Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) today introduced the Investment Adviser Examination Improvement Act of 2012, which would provide the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with the authority to impose and collect user fees on investment advisors for the purpose of increasing the number and frequency of SEC examinations. Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) spoke at an event marking the display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt on the National Mall and reading the names of individuals who died of HIV/AIDS and who are remembered on the quilt. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is currently on display on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., during the international AIDS 2012 Conference. Congresswoman Waters, a Congressional leader in the fight to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS through increased awareness, testing, treatment, and funding, is scheduled to speak at the conference on Thursday, July 26th.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-35) today celebrated National Clinicians HIV/AIDS Testing and Awareness Day and encouraged the nation's health care providers to promote HIV testing among their patients. Washington – Last night on Capitol Hill, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) offered an amendment to the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bill for fiscal year (FY) 2013, which would have restored $500 million for the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program, which creates jobs by funding investments in transportation infrastructure.

This bill will provide an emergency supplemental appropriation of one billion dollars over the next two years for the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program, which creates jobs by funding investments in transportation infrastructure.
