Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Ranking Member of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, led her Democratic colleagues on the full Committee in defense of funding for the Securities and Exchange Commission. She delivered the following remarks:

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) entered the following statement into the Congressional Record today during floor debate on the Republican legislation to repeal health care reform.
"Thank you Mr. Speaker, and I thank the Judiciary Committee's Ranking Member, my friend Mr. Conyers, for yielding the time.
I'm proud to join my Democratic colleagues on the floor this afternoon to state our unequivocal stance against health care reform repeal.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) entered the following statement into the Congressional Record in remembrance of Jule Sugarman, the founder of the Head Start program. Congresswoman Waters was an assistant teacher and volunteer coordinator with Head Start in Los Angeles:
"MADAM Speaker, I rise to honor the life and work of Jule Sugarman, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 83. I extend my thoughts and prayers to his wife, his children, and his family and friends during this very difficult time.
