The measure, introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), is named in honor of Gerardo Hernandez, the Transportation Security Administration screener who was shot to death Nov. 1 while on duty at LAX.
As the House of Representatives considers the harmful Republican financial services and general government funding proposal, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, offered three amendments designed to provide adequate resources to our financial regulators.
"I was devastated yesterday when I learned of the tragic destruction of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over the Ukraine. I condemn this senseless act of violence, and I hope that the individuals responsible for shooting down this plane are swiftly brought to justice.
