LOS ANGELES – Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) released the following statement in celebration of Cinco de Mayo:

"It is with great pride that I join millions of Americans in recognizing Cinco de Mayo -- the anniversary of Mexico's triumph over the French Army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862 – and celebrating the contributions and achievements of Mexican Americans across the United States. As the proud representative of the diverse and multicultural 43rd Congressional District, I am so pleased that my office once again joined my constituents at Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Gardena and Lennox. On this special day, let us all express our appreciation to Mexican Americans for enriching our society and culture, and recommit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for freedom, equality, justice, and opportunity for all."
