Rep. Maxine Waters Thanks Unsung Heroes of the Healthcare Industry
LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) hosted a video conference with three members of SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West in order to express her heartfelt gratitude to all of the “unsung heroes of the healthcare industry” who are working on the frontlines in hospitals that serve the 43rd District during the COVID-19 pandemic. The video conference included three healthcare workers, James Christion (Kaiser South Bay), Teresa Hurtado (Kaiser South Bay), and Tony Price (Centinela Hospital), who discussed their experiences and the challenges facing frontline workers at hospitals and medical clinics across the country.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of our healthcare workers who are waking up every day and placing their lives on the line at hospitals and clinics throughout our community,”said Congresswoman Waters. “As we continue to uplift the work of our doctors and nurses, we also cannot forget the other unsung heroes of the healthcare industry, including our respiratory care, dietary, and environmental services staff. These hardworking healthcare professionals are on the frontlines of this crisis. I thank each of you for your hard work and sacrifices, and I will continue to support you and be your champion in Congress.”
During the video conference, Congresswoman Waters thanked the healthcare workers for their sacrifices, reiterated her strong support for frontline workers, and reinforced the importance of members of the community adhering to the social distancing, hand washing, and protective mask wearing guidance from public health officials.
