ICYMI: Congresswoman Maxine Waters Joins Thousands in March to Commemorate 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) issued the following statement after she joined thousands to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama:
“60 years ago, 600 brave people marched from Selma to Montgomery to fight for a more just future for everyone. They marched on despite being trampled by horses or beaten by troopers. That’s why I march every year to honor the work of the civil rights leaders that fought for us and paved the way for Black people to have equal rights.
“Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk are working to set us back. They have stripped diversity, equity, and inclusion programs from federal agencies. They are cutting thousands of federal workers from their jobs and defunding Medicaid and Social Security. We can’t let that cruelty continue.

“Just like the civil leaders before us, we must hit the streets. The real crisis is quickly approaching, and we must be ready to fight back. Together, we can use our voice to influence the courts. Together, we can win.”
