Congresswoman Waters Statement on the Death of Former President George H. W. Bush

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) issued a statement on the death of the 41st President of the United States, George H. W. Bush, who died at age 94:

“I am saddened by the passing of former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, a true American patriot who dedicated his life to public service.

“George H.W. Bush served our country as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II, and represented his beloved home state of Texas in the U.S. Congress. He was also the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), an ambassador to the United Nations, and the vice president of the United States before being elected as the 41st president of the United States in 1988. In addition to his decades-long career in public service, George H. W. Bush was the patriarch of a family of public servants, including the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, and the former governor of Florida, John Ellis Bush.

“George H.W. Bush is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, former first lady Barbara Bush, who passed away earlier this year. I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. I pray that they find solace in knowing that he is now reunited with the love of his life.”
