CONGRESSWOMAN MAXINE WATERS SUPPORTS THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY AT YOUTUBE’S "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION” EVENT

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43), Ranking Member of the Committee on Financial Services, released the following statement in response to YouTube’s ‘For Your Consideration’ (FYC) event.   
  
Congresswoman Maxine Waters helped launch YouTube’s first-ever official ‘For Your Consideration’ (FYC) event. This event was a key part of YouTube’s "Legitimacy Campaign," aimed at showcasing the exceptional talent of YouTube creators who are independently submitting for Emmy consideration this year. 

“As the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles embraces the diversity and rich contributions of the creative industry”, said the Congresswoman. “It is vitally important that these creatives are supported as they continue to advance culture, stimulate local economies, and create new pathways for upward mobility”, she continued.  
  
The primary objective of this event was to highlight the growing significance of creator shows within the media and entertainment landscape. The inaugural FYC event underscored the impact and quality of content from the YouTube platform.  
  
This event supported Sean Evans, Rhett & Link, and Michelle Khare, who are each pursuing Emmy recognition. This event also featured a "Creator Collective" to inspire and connect attendees with aspiring content creators.
