The 43rd Congressional District is comprised of South Los Angeles including the communities of Westchester, Playa Del Rey and Watts. The Westchester and Playa del Rey communities, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), form the western part of the 43rd District.
The district also includes the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County: Lennox, West Athens, West Carson, Harbor Gateway and El Camino Village, as well as the cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance.
Inglewood, a city located directly southwest of downtown Los Angeles, is the oldest and largest independently governed city in the 43rd District, outside of Los Angeles.
The cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance – part of the South Bay region at the southwest part of Los Angeles County – make up the southern portion of the 43rd District.
