The Congressional Black Caucus held a hearing today entitled "Focus on Haiti: The Road to Recovery - A Six Month Review." During the first panel, USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah gave an update on relief efforts in Haiti, and took questions from members of Congress. Congresswoman Waters shared some of her concerns with Dr. Shah, including USAID personnel turnover; procurement for small businesses in Haiti; tent community sanitation, food and personal security; food policy; and issues surrounding the upcoming Haitian election. Congresswoman Waters walks with Rep. Joseph Cao (R-La.) and other community leaders over the Claiborne Avenue Bridge in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. The Congresswoman was in New Orleans to commemorate the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
